A Little About Me and My Background

Hello and welcome! I’m so glad that your path toward growth has brought you here!

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in 2015. I then pursued my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Friends University where I graduated in 2017.  I was licensed in April of 2018 and achieved clinical licensure in January of 2020. I am also a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor. Outside of private practice, I have provided therapy to clients at a domestic violence shelter and at a community mental health center. I currently also work as a PRN Behavioral Health Therapist at a children’s acute inpatient psychiatric hospital.

My personal self-care includes reading, exercising, and keeping a gratitude journal. In my free time, I enjoy trying new restaurants and coffee shops with friends. I love traveling and doing just about anything that involves spending time with my husband or our dogs. We have a Miniature Schnauzer named Dextur and a Pitbull/Rottweiler mix named Nelson that are like our children, and we all love going to the dog park together. Some of my other favorite ways to spend time include wandering aimlessly around Target and trying out new recipes at home.

Becoming a therapist has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done, and my passion for it continues to grow!

I have experience working with clients who are struggling with the following:

  • Issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity (e.g. coming out, gender dysphoria, working with family members who are struggling to understand, etc.)

  • Issues related to attachment and trauma (e.g. abuse, loss, childhood trauma, etc.)

    • Trained and certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

  • Addictions and substance abuse

  • Relationship conflict and marital struggles (e.g. communication difficulties, infidelity, low levels of intimacy, etc.)

    • Trained and certified to facilitate the SYMBIS assessment (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts)

  • Identity and/or self-esteem

  • Anxiety

  • Mood disorders

  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation

  • Familial problems

  • Personality disorders

I know that not every therapist is a good fit for everyone, so please feel free to contact me and request to schedule a phone call to discuss, in more detail, exactly what you are looking for in your therapy experience. I look forward to getting to know you!
