A Little About Me and My Background

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in 2015. I then pursued my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Friends University where I graduated in 2017.  I was licensed in April of 2018 and achieved clinical licensure in January of 2020. I am also a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor. Outside of private practice, I have provided therapy to clients at a domestic violence shelter, a community mental health center, and a children’s acute inpatient psychiatric hospital. I was previously a board member for the Kansas City Anti-Violence Project and am currently a member of the LGBT-Affirming Therapist Guild of Kansas City.

My personal self-care includes exercising, reading, and keeping a gratitude journal. I love traveling and doing just about anything that involves spending time with my spouse and our children. I also love trying new restaurants and coffee shops with friends and exploring new walking trails. Some of my other favorite ways to spend time include crocheting and making things with my Cricut.

I have experience (and passion for) working with people who are struggling with the following:

  • Relationship conflict and/or marital struggles (e.g. infidelity, communication difficulties, low levels of intimacy, etc.)

    • Consensual non-monogamy and polycules

    • Trained and certified to facilitate the SYMBIS assessment (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts)
  • Issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity (e.g. coming out, gender dysphoria, working with family members who are struggling to understand, etc.)

    • Able to provide referral letters for hormone therapy and/or gender affirmation surgeries

  • Issues related to attachment and trauma (e.g. abuse, loss, childhood trauma, etc.)

    • Trained and certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

  • Pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum issues

  • Addiction and alcohol use/misuse

  • Identity and/or self-esteem

  • Anxiety

  • Mood disorders

  • Familial problems

I know that not every therapist is a good fit for everyone, so please feel free to contact me and request to schedule a phone call to discuss, in more detail, exactly what you are looking for in your therapy experience. I look forward to getting to know you!
